Work-life balance is a unicorn

Updated: Jun 16, 2022

Is there such a thing as work/life balance? Kerry Graham and I discuss the importance of setting boundaries around our time. We are discussing the importance of setting boundaries as a new teacher in your career. Just like our students, we are whole people - we are more than our careers as teachers. During this episode, Kerry shares her teaching story and tips to help us start setting boundaries as teachers. Here we go!

Episode takeaways
  • We discuss burnout - what it is and how to work through it.

  • What does it mean to be you as a whole person? What are some other aspects of your life?

  • We have other passions in our lives - pursue them!

  • Think about your why and how does this "yes" support your why

  • Be kind to yourself and why you are saying "yes."

  • If you are saying yes to one thing, you are saying "no" to something else.

  • Is this something you will want to be doing during that time - how is your future self feel about this commitment?

  • Protect your time!
