Tips for teaching internationally
Learn to teach English to international students with the CELTA Cambridge course.
Know what the acronyms mean. For example, the EFL acronym stands for English as a foreign language. The ESLaccronym stands for English as a second language. It is also called English language teaching, or ELT.
It is more than language instruction.
You must build your confidence and earn their trust and a relationship with them and each other.
Get to know your students as individual learners.
You need to develop communication strategies and build relationships with students.
Continue to develop a sense of community within your classroom.
It will take time and patience.
Make sure your students know how to communicate with you, the teacher, and with each other. Give them helpful phrases to use in and out of the classroom.
Establish a common ground between students and yourself.
